Every morning, I receive a list of joke set ups from a late night comedy show in my email inbox. My job is to read, write and submit 10 polished jokes by a certain deadline. For every joke I sell, they will pay me $100.

While getting a joke on the air isn’t easy, it’s a great exercise for keeping a comedian’s joke writing skills sharp. Most hired TV joke writers are people with high-follow comedy accounts or funny ivy leaguers, but if you can prove yourself as a killer joke writer, you could be in the running for a job as a staff writer on a late night comedy show, and collect a paycheck of up to $250,000 or more per year. Not too shabby.

If you don’t have the time, energy or interest in competing with the thousands of writers who are vying for those jobs, I hear ya. There are outlets all over the U.S. and Europe, and possibly elsewhere, that accept jokes written in English and will even pay you cold, hard cash for them—typically in the $50-$100 range.

I did the dirty work of digging so that you don’t have to, and compiled a list of outlets that run one-liners, bits and jokes. Some are for adults, some are for kids, but the one uniting element is that they must be funny.

As we know, hilarity is in the mind of the beholder, so, while your joke may be side-splitting to you and many others, the editors of wherever you send it to might not get it. No big deal, just move on and try another outlet.

Did I miss any spots? If so, please comment below or DM me and I will add them onto this list as they come in. Don’t forget to bookmark this page so you can refer back to it, and share it with your funny friends.
