I recall hearing a now well-known comedian (I want to say it was Bill Burr?) saying that he never watched other comedians, because he didn’t want to get what they were saying in his head.
In an era of parallel thought, with joke thieves all over the internet angling for your bits, and people getting fact checked and busted doing other people’s material, this makes some sense. I get where he’s coming from. Still, it’s not a system I abide by; not by a long shot. Instead, here’s what I do (and what I suggest):
