The first time I ever wrote in a TV writer’s room was for a show on MTV called I Bet You Will. Morgan Spurlock’s innovative program that sent him out to college campuses to ask kids how much it’d cost them to do various dares, such as eat their own hair and all other types of disgusting things, would go on to inspire a generation of prank-based shows.
I got hired for the room by performing at a comedy show that Morgan happened to be attending. There, he personally invited me to start writing for the show. I was surprised, excited and a teeny bit physically ill as I walked home that night, a newbie in comedy, delighted at the opportunity that lie before me.
