Every comedian, especially those starting out in comedy, needs a comedy BFF—that is, someone to workshop ideas with, bump around to open mics with or meet out at shows, plot world domination, etc. Without a comedy BFF, the scene can be a real grind. But you want to choose your comedy BFF wisely. The wrong choice can leave you taking on some responsibility for their ill-considered material, having to take on their emotional turmoil or even picking up their bar tab.
Over the years, I’ve had many comedy BFFs, some better than others, some that are now very famous and are not even Fs anymore, let alone BFFs.
